t-max moves from Europe to Asia

Tepro and t-max under one roof in the new building in Gebze / Kocaeli near Istanbul. With 65 employees, tepro has been successfully representing motan-colortronic in Turkey for almost 30 years. With the move, t-max is meeting the increasing market and customer requirements and expanding them further. Turkey has developed into an established, up-and-coming plastics manufacturer market between Europe, Asia and the Middle East in the recent years. Thanks to t-max, motan was able to increase its market share in this region.

Mr Sadrettin Nikbay, CEO of t-max, answered the motan Group’s most important questions about the new location and the challenge of moving in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic in an interview.

Mr. Nikbay, 2019 t-max has moved to a new and modern (fashionable, stylish) building – outside Istanbul. What were the reasons for this?

It was our first choice to be in the organized industrial zone where major the plastic and automotive manufacturing industry are located and to be able to react quickly to the requests of these companies. Apart from this, in the past, many of our departments were in different buildings, this slowed down our internal communication from time to time. As our company grows, we have come to the conclusion that being under one roof will be more efficient for everyone. That’s why we wanted to gather all teams and departments under the tepro and t-max brands under one roof and strengthen communication. In this building, which fits our future growth plans, we aim to develop new technologies and increase the number of employees

What has changed for t-max and its customers and which potential does the move offer?

As we are closer to our customers with our new factory in Gebze, our biggest goal is to respond to their requests instantly and increase satisfaction. We now believe that we can solve our customers’ problems without any stumbling and disruptions in their production line. Apart from that, we aim to increase our sales by introducing working devices to our customers with our showroom in our building. In addition, we will organize trainings and workshops in our conference hall and technical office to introduce new technologies to the sector representatives in practice.

2019 and 2020 were challenging years. How did you cope with the high investment costs, the additional exchange rate fluctuations and Covid-19?

Covid-19 unfortunately affected everyone. It wasn’t a smooth transition. I had to take the roughest road when I was in ICU due to COVID-19 infection. We are really sorry for people who lost loved ones. However, this was the perfect timing for a big move like ours. In general, the biggest problem in moving is the loss of work and time.

However, due to COVID-19, like most of our customers, our offices were closed since March. In order to protect the health of our employees, we started to apply the remote working model and during this period, we updated our computer systems according to needs for remote working. When our new office was ready to move, we carried out the relocation of our buildings without any business loss.

Nevertheless, you were quite successful in 2020. Do you dare to look ahead to 2021?

Our 2021 forecast includes breaking a new record. The reason for this is that production in the plastic sector will increase and new purchases will take place. Our 2021 year will be much better than 2020.
